A Place to Call HOME!

Finding an affordable home in Centre County can be challenging—even for families who are doing everything right.
Earlier this year, a hardworking mom and her three children moved to State College to be closer to family and begin a new chapter. While she worked full time, the family shared a two-bedroom apartment with relatives for six months, hoping the right housing opportunity would come along. Despite her steady employment and reliable transportation, finding a home large enough and affordable enough for her family proved incredibly difficult.
When they came to Housing Transitions, the family entered our emergency shelter and enrolled in our Rapid Rehousing program. Working closely with our Shelter Manager and Rapid Rehousing Manager, they searched tirelessly for the right home.
The search paid off.
Today, this mom and her children are settling into a home of their own—located in her children's school district, providing the stability and consistency every family deserves.
This success story is a reminder that homelessness isn't always caused by a lack of effort. Sometimes, families simply need the right support at the right time. Thanks to our dedicated staff and the generosity of our community, one more family has a safe place to call home and a brighter future ahead.
