A Note from our Executive Director, Morgan Wasikonis

For a child, homelessness can be confusing and frightening. At Housing Transitions, we believe every child deserves a place where they can still laugh, build pillow forts, and simply be a kid, even while their parents are working hard to find stable ground again.

Summer is one of our busiest seasons. Walk through our shelter on any given afternoon and you'll find kids playing, giggling, savoring their break from school.

However, summer creates extra challenges for parents because without school to fill the day, the cost of care can become another obstacle standing between a family and a home of their own.

We connect families with childcare resources so parents can keep job-hunting, looking for housing, and chipping away at the barriers in order to build a brighter future.

How did you like the peek at our new calming spaces? Thanks to your generosity, our shelter has become a warmer, more welcoming place than ever over the past couple of years. And now children who stay with us can settle in, relax, and find real moments of comfort, in the new beautiful, and fun spaces.

Summer also marks the start of a new fiscal year for us, which means it's the perfect moment to pause and say: thank you. Your generosity through Centre Gives, fundraising events, donations and volunteerism all year long reinforces just how deeply this community believes in our mission to end homelessness in Centre County.

We hope you'll continue your support this summer and beyond. Every gift, every event, every moment of engagement brings real hope to the families and individuals who walk through our doors.

Thank you,

Morgan Wasikonis, Executive Director
